Miami: Italy’s tennis star Jannik Sinner advanced to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open tennis tournament after defeating America’s Alex Michelsen 7–5, 7–6(4). With this victory, Sinner has become only the third player to reach the quarterfinals in each of his first five appearances at the Miami Open. Before him, this achievement was accomplished only by Yannick Noah and Stefan Edberg.
Sinner staged an impressive comeback in the second set, rallying from a 2–5 deficit to clinch the match. After the win, he credited his strong serving performance as a key factor in his success. He also acknowledged that he will need to make significant improvements to secure the title, emphasizing the importance of raising his level of play and continuing to practice during breaks.
In another match, Spain’s young player Marton Fucsovics caused a major upset by defeating American Sebastian Korda 2–6, 7–6(6), 6–4 to reach the quarterfinals. He is now set to face Jiří Lehečka, who himself pulled off a surprise victory over Taylor Fritz.
