Lausanne: The Indian women’s hockey team is currently engaged in preparations for the FIH Hockey Nations Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be held from June 15 to June 21 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Introduced in 2021, the Hockey Nations Cup is a premier competition featuring the highest-ranked teams that are not part of the FIH Hockey Pro League. The winning team earns qualification for the Pro League in the following season.
The Indian women’s team was relegated from the Pro League after finishing last among nine teams in the previous season. Alongside India, the Nations Cup will feature host nation New Zealand, as well as the United States, Japan, Korea, Chile, Scotland, and France.
Meanwhile, the Indian men’s hockey team will also participate in the tournament. The men’s competition will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from June 11 to June 20. Teams competing in the men’s event include South Africa, New Zealand, France, Korea, Japan, Wales, Malaysia, Ireland, and Scotland. The Indian men’s team is also currently undergoing intensive training in preparation for the tournament.
