Mumbai: Promising young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi may receive an opportunity to make his debut for the senior Indian cricket team. One of the main reasons behind this possibility is India’s extremely busy cricket calendar this year, which includes a large number of matches both at home and on overseas tours.
Considering the packed schedule, there is also a possibility that the Indian cricket board may field two separate squads—one consisting of experienced players and the other made up largely of young cricketers. From June to October, India is expected to play a continuous series of matches against several teams. During this period, the team is also scheduled to face Zimbabwe as well as the relatively new side from Ireland.
Vaibhav has delivered impressive performances for the Indian Under-19 team in recent times. In light of his consistent displays, he could be given the opportunity to represent India at the Asian Games later this year.
