New Delhi: In connection with one of the country’s largest alleged cryptocurrency frauds—estimated at nearly ₹20,000 crore—the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ayush Varshney, co-founder of Darwin Labs, in the ongoing Bitcoin scam probe linked to the Raj Kundra case.
According to officials, the accused was attempting to flee to Colombo, Sri Lanka, but was intercepted at the airport after authorities acted on a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him.
Investigative agencies state that the case is linked to the GainBitcoin scheme, which began in 2015. The scheme was launched by Amit Bhardwaj (now deceased), his brother Ajay Bhardwaj, and their network. Investors were allegedly promised monthly returns of 10 percent, with claims that the profits would be generated through Bitcoin mining operations.
