Union Minister Gadkari Calls for Abolition of Green Tax in Delhi, Questions Use of Collected Funds

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has strongly advocated for the immediate abolition of the environmental compensation charge levied on commercial vehicles at Delhi’s borders.

Speaking at a public event, the minister raised serious concerns regarding the relevance and effectiveness of this tax, as well as the actual utilization of the substantial funds collected under it. Questioning the functioning of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, he asked where the crores of rupees collected over the years in the name of environmental protection have ultimately been spent.
