Bomb Threats to Parliament and Schools

New Delhi: Nine schools in the national capital, Delhi, received threatening emails on Monday morning warning of bomb attacks. The emails claimed that a blast would occur in Parliament at 1:11 p.m. on February 13 and threatened to turn Delhi into “Khalistan.” The messages also referenced terrorist Afzal Guru and described Punjab as Khalistan.

Following the threats, security was heightened across the affected schools. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), emergency calls were received from schools in different areas early in the morning. Fire tenders, along with bomb disposal squads and dog squads, were immediately dispatched to the locations.

The threatening emails stated that Delhi would become Khalistan in memory of Afzal Guru and reiterated that an explosion would take place at 1:11 p.m. on February 13 in Parliament. Mentions of the “Khalistan National Army” were also included. A DFS official confirmed that nine schools have so far reported receiving bomb threats, and thorough checks of all premises are underway.

Senior police officials said cyber teams have been activated to trace the location and source of the emails. Security arrangements in sensitive areas of the capital have also been reviewed. No suspicious objects have been recovered from any of the schools so far.
