Tehran. A major and unexpected shift has emerged in Middle Eastern geopolitics. U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambitious strategy aimed at regime change in Iran and curbing its nuclear program has suffered a significant blow from America’s own allies. Three key Gulf Muslim nations—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar—have made it clear to Washington that they will not permit the use of their territory, airspace, or military bases for any military action against Iran.

This decision has left the Trump administration’s military strategy in a state of uncertainty, and these countries are, perhaps unintentionally, emerging as a protective buffer for Iran.
