Abbas Says the Board Would Strip Palestinians of Their Right to Self-Governance
Islamabad. Several senior leaders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government have expressed displeasure over the decision to join the Gaza Peace Board proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The move to accept the invitation on behalf of Pakistan is being described as morally questionable by critics within the government. However, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has defended the decision.
Opposition Leader in the Senate, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, has termed the Peace Board fundamentally flawed from the outset. He stated that such arrangements rarely remain limited to administrative oversight and often go beyond their stated purpose, ultimately undermining the rights of the affected people.
