Says Every Karna Has the Right to Meet Kunti

Amsterdam: When destiny is kind, even the most difficult times can ultimately lead to remarkable achievements. A living example of this is Falguni Binnendijk, the mayor of the Dutch city of Heemstede. The story of Mayor Falguni’s life—from his birth to the present day—reads no less than a cinematic narrative.

According to reports, Falguni was born in Nagpur in 1985 and was left at a shelter home by his unmarried mother when he was just three days old. Forty-one years later, that same child is now the mayor of Heemstede in the Netherlands. Determined to find his biological mother, he has now traveled all the way to India in search of her.

Falguni was born on February 10, 1985. His mother left him at a shelter home in Nagpur known as Matru Seva Sangh, where he stayed for about a month. Later, a Dutch couple who had come to India on a visit adopted him and took him back with them to the Netherlands. A nurse at the shelter named the child “Falguni,” as he was born during the month of Phalguna according to the Hindu calendar.
