Mumbai: Former India batter Aakash Chopra has selected his preferred squad for the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to be held early next year. In Chopra’s chosen lineup, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed captain, while experienced batter Shubman Gill has not been included.
Earlier as well, Shubman Gill was left out of the Indian team announced for the T20 World Cup. Now, Chopra has named a separate list of 15 players who were considered strong contenders for World Cup selection but ultimately failed to make the cut. Gill’s absence from both lists clearly indicates that he is currently not among the top 30 T20 players in contention.
