As Shanaya Kapoor gears up for her much-anticipated Bollywood debut in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, she’s already showing she’s got thick skin for stardom. In a bold and refreshing take, the debutante revealed she doesn’t run from criticism—she seeks it.
“I actively read negative comments. I believe the audience has the right to express their views, and I must listen,” Shanaya shared in an interview with Screen, adding that she reads even the harshest feedback to understand how to improve.
While most newcomers avoid online hate, Shanaya admits she dives deep into it—even the brutal ones. “There are comments about my looks, my body, my clothes… those can be quite nasty. But I’ve learned to filter them out. Some things are just noise. But constructive criticism—I take that to heart. That’s how I grow.”
Debut Film: Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan
The trailer of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan dropped earlier this week and is already grabbing attention. Sharing screen space with Vikrant Massey—who portrays a visually impaired character with depth and nuance—Shanaya makes her debut in this heartfelt romantic drama, directed by Santosh Singh and penned by Mansi Bagla. The film is a joint production of Zee Studios and Mini Films. Shanaya, daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, steps into the limelight with this emotionally rich film, which is set to release in theaters on July 11.
