New Delhi: The Madurai administration of Tamil Nadu has approached the Supreme Court contesting the Madras High Court Madurai Bench’s directive permitting the lighting of the sacred Karthigai Deepam on the ancient Deepathoon pillar at Thiruparankundram. This petition challenges the order authorising the ceremonial lighting at the Arulmigu Subramanya Swami Temple hilltop, which is located adjacent to a dargah, underscoring the sensitive nature of the site.
