Delhi Flood Alert: Yamuna Bazaar Colony Faces Rising Water Threat! Local people lose sleep

The Yamuna in Delhi is witnessing yet another increase in water levels. About 1.05 lakh cusecs of water was released from Hathini Kund Barrage at around 2 am on Sunday night. All the gates of Hathini Kund Barrage have been opened and all its water has been sent to Yamuna. Now it is feared that the situation in Delhi may also become like Punjab and Jammu. Water levels in the Yamuna had previously breached the danger threshold in Delhi. In such a situation, after releasing water from Hathini Kund Barrage, the water level of Yamuna in Delhi may increase further and flood situation may also arise. Let us tell you that flood-like conditions have started appearing in Yamuna Bazaar area of Delhi yesterday. Yamuna water has entered the streets of the colony and people are packing their belongings and going towards the camp. As soon as the water level of Yamuna river increased late on Monday evening, water started entering the colony of Yamuna Bazaar area. Within a few hours, the situation worsened so much that water entered the houses and people started moving towards the roofs or relief camps with their belongings.

These areas will be submerged first in Delhi

According to reports, if the water level in Yamuna continues to rise like this, it will make the situation more serious. Let us tell you that the areas connected to the Yamuna front line will be affected first. These include Akshardham, Okhla and the areas across the Yamuna which are built close to Yamuna, these will be the first to be hit by floods. Apart from this, there are many other areas where water gets filled. For example, if it rains for 15 minutes in Sangam Vihar area, then about 52 million liters of water gets filled.

Delhi’s Old Railway Bridge closed from today

The Indian Meteorological Department has said in its update today that for the time being, this is going to be the condition of Delhi for the whole day. Orange alert has been issued, so be a little careful while going out of the house. The flow from Hathni Kund Barrage takes around 48 hours to arrive in Delhi. Looking at the situation, it is estimated that Yamuna may flood in Delhi-NCR by Tuesday afternoon. Officials said that by 5 pm on Monday evening, the water level of Yamuna at the old railway bridge had reached 204.94 meters, which is slightly below the danger level of 205.33 meters. As soon as the water level reaches 206 meters, people are taken to safe areas. According to the information, the water level of Yamuna was recorded at 205.68m today on 2 September at 6 am. After seeing the water level of Yamuna river, the Delhi government has banned traffic and movement of general public on the Old Railway Bridge.
