Tourism Diplomacy in Action: IRCTC Showcases India at International Tourism Expo Vietnam 2025

New Delhi, 6 September 2025 – Marking a historic step in cultural and tourism diplomacy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared 2025 as the ASEAN–India Year of Tourism, highlighting India’s commitment to strengthening cultural, economic, and tourism ties with ASEAN nations. This initiative aims to enhance people-to-people connectivity, foster prosperity, and strengthen bonds of friendship across the region.

As part of this mission, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has taken the lead in representing India at the prestigious International Tourism Expo (ITE) Vietnam 2025. Hosted at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, the expo took place from September 4 to 6.

ASEAN–India Pavilion: Showcasing the Best of Tourism

IRCTC has curated an exclusive ASEAN–India Pavilion, featuring India’s diverse tourism offerings:

Cultural heritage tours

Spiritual and wellness retreats

Adventure and nature packages

Luxury travel experiences, including world-renowned trains such as the Maharajas’ Express, The Golden Chariot, and the Buddhist Circuit luxury train

The pavilion also highlights the natural beauty and attractions of ASEAN countries, making it a true hub of cross-cultural tourism exchange.

Strengthening Ties through Tourism

Ahead of ITE Vietnam, IRCTC, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), showcased the ASEAN–India Pavilion at PATA Travel Mart 2025 in Bangkok, which was inaugurated by Sh. Nagesh Singh, Indian Ambassador to Thailand. The initiative gained further momentum with a road show in Thailand on August 28, 2025, where travel industry leaders from both regions came together to explore collaboration opportunities.

A Landmark Year for Indian Tourism

The announcement of the ASEAN–India Year of Tourism has positioned India as a global tourism hotspot. The ASEAN–India Pavilion at ITE Vietnam is not only promoting India’s tourism potential but also creating long-term opportunities for sustainable growth, cultural exchange, and regional prosperity.

This initiative is set to transform Indo–ASEAN relations, establishing trust, friendship, and collaboration through the power of tourism.
