New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, a terror suspect has admitted to planning an attack on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café, allegedly over the mockery of Nihang Sikhs in his television show. The accused has been arrested by the police and is currently under interrogation.
According to the initial investigation, the accused was deeply offended by a segment in The Kapil Sharma Show, which he believed portrayed Nihang Sikhs in a disrespectful manner. Fueled by anger, he began plotting an act of violence against Kapil Sharma’s café, which is located in a prime area of Mumbai.
Police officials from the Special Cell stated that the accused is linked to a radical group and had shared several provocative posts on social media targeting the comedian. During interrogation, he confessed that the show’s content had hurt his religious sentiments and led him to plan the attack.
“We have recovered objectionable materials from the suspect, and further probe is underway to identify any possible accomplices involved in the conspiracy,” said a senior police officer.
The timely action by law enforcement agencies prevented a possible attack, and security has now been increased around Kapil Sharma and his properties. So far, the comedian has not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
This case highlights the growing challenges around freedom of expression and religious sensitivity, especially in the entertainment industry. Authorities are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
