At this time in India, devotees of Bappa are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great pomp. The ten-day Ganeshotsav has started with Ganesh Chaturthi on 27 August. People welcomed Bappa with great pomp and show and Lord Ganpati was seated in the public pandals as well as in the house. Lord Ganesha is traditionally immersed on the auspicious occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. This time Bappa will be immersed on 7 September. Keep these things in mind at the time of immersion:-
- Immersion of Ganpati Bappa is always considered very auspicious to do it at the auspicious time.
- One should take a bath and wear clean clothes at the time of Ganpati immersion. Let us tell you that black clothes should not be worn even by mistake during immersion.
- Before immersion, worship Ganpati with proper rituals. Modak, Durva, betel nut and coconut should be offered to Ganpati.
- While taking Ganpati for immersion, keep one thing in mind that Ganpati’s face should be towards the house. It is believed that Ganesha gets angry if one’s back is towards the house.
- Before Ganesh immersion, pray to Ganpati Bappa for happiness and prosperity and apologize for the mistake done knowingly or unknowingly.
- While immersing Ganpati, coconut should not be broken. Immerse it without breaking it.
- During Ganpati immersion, do not float Bappa’s idol with a jerk, immerse it slowly in water.
- The things offered during the worship should also be immersed along with Bappa.
- Keep five of the betel nuts offered in the puja in your safe and immerse the others.
- Chant the mantra Om Gan Ganpatye Namah Ganpati while praying to God for the happiness and prosperity of the house.
- While sending off Ganpati Bappa, devotees perform a ritual by chanting sacred verses in his ear before visarjan.
- If your idol is small, then immerse it in a tub in your house. Then put its water and soil in a pot.
When to immerse Ganesh idols?
The most auspicious time for Ganesh immersion is considered to be Pradosh Kaal on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, ten days after Ganesh Chaturthi, which comes after sunset. Let us tell you that the auspicious time for Ganesh immersion is between 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Therefore, bid farewell to Ganpati Bappa only in the auspicious time.
