What is the correct date of Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 – 26 August or 27 August?

There is confusion among people about whether the date of Ganesh Chaturthi is 26 or 27 this year. According to the Panchang, the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on 26 August 2025 at 1:54 pm and will end on 27 August 2025 at 3:44 pm. Since Udaya Tithi is given more importance in Hindu tradition, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 August. Let us tell you that the ten-day Ganeshotsav is starting from 27 August and will continue till 8 September Anant Chaturdashi. Ganpati installation will start in homes, temples and pandals from Wednesday, 27 August 2025, and after ten days of worship, Bappa will be bid farewell with immersion.

Method of installation of Ganpati

  • In the auspicious time, install the idol of Ganpati on a wooden stand by spreading a red or yellow cloth

  • The idol should be installed in such a way that the back of Lord Ganesha is towards the outside of the house
  • Decorate the stand with mango or banana leaves
  • Give a seat of durva to Ganpati Bappa and then make him sit
  • Keep prasad of modak etc. along with incense, lamp and agarbatti around the stand
  • After that, fill a copper urn with pure water and decorate it with mango leaves
  • Take water and take a pledge that you will worship Ganesha regularly for the next ten days.
