PM Modi’s gift to Kolkata: Inauguration of three projects, including India’s first underwater metro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open three metro projects in Kolkata on 22nd August. Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar shared this information on Twitter on Thursday. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar posted that this metro project is a “historic gift” for Bengal before Durga Puja. It is also being said that these also include an important section of India’s first underwater metro. At present, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line operates in two separate stretches—one between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade, and the other from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector 5. The newly added route will greatly benefit the thousands of daily commuters heading to the IT hub in Sector 5. Because the Green Line connects to the Blue Line at Esplanade and also connects Howrah and Sealdah railway stations. Now the airport will also be connected to this route, which will provide a lot of convenience to the passengers. Let us tell you that this inauguration ceremony will be held at Jessore Road Metro Station of the Yellow Line. Along with the new metro projects, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the new subway built at Howrah Metro Station. Mamata Banerjee will stay away from the program There is news that Mamata Banerjee will not attend PM Modi’s West Bengal program. It is being said that she will not share the stage with PM Modi. This information was given by a top official of the state government. Mamata Banerjee’s party, TMC, also said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the allegations of alleged harassment and linguistic discrimination against migrants from Bengal in BJP-ruled states. The official said that in such an environment, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not want to share the stage with the officials of the Central Government. An official even alleged that these projects were planned by Mamata Banerjee during her tenure as Railway Minister. But after slow progress for a long time, now BJP is inaugurating them to take electoral credit. Actually, assembly elections are going to be held in West Bengal, and BJP has been trying its best to gain a foothold in Bengal since the last two elections. But despite all the efforts, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC continues to remain in power.

Vande Bharat and Chenab Bridge Take Spotlight at World Expo 2025 in Osaka

New Delhi: India’s two engineering wonders, the Vande Bharat Express and the Chenab Bridge, are holding the world in awe at the currently ongoing World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, where the Indian Pavilion is attracting sizeable traffic and universal admiration, particularly among Japanese visitors. Hosted on Yumeshima, an artificial futuristic island off Osaka’s shores, the World Expo was opened to the world on April 13 and will conclude on October 13, with millions from around the globe visiting. Among the several global exhibits, India’s Indian Railways exhibit has become a focal point, showcasing India’s leap forward in infrastructure, technology, and sustainable development. Stealing the show at its center is the Chenab Bridge, the highest railway bridge in the world, elegantly curving itself over the Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir. Standing alongside are the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge constructed in the difficult Himalayan landscape, and the streamlined Vande Bharat Express, renowned for its high speed, energy efficiency, and high-tech passenger facilities. The display also features innovations in electric locomotives, highlighting Indian Railways’ drive towards green and sustainable transport. Japanese guests, with their own high-speed rail culture, have been especially interested, lingering around interactive digital screens and live presentations mapping the evolution of one of the world’s largest rail networks. What is remarkable to many is not only the size and scope of India’s railway initiatives but also the strong emphasis on sustainability, safety, and accessibility. The Indian Railways part falls in perfectly with the Expo 2025 theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” and its three pillars: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives. With immersive experiences, compelling narratives, and innovative visuals, India is not just demonstrating its engineering capabilities but also its vision for a networked, sustainable tomorrow, where tradition and innovation come together and infrastructure supports people and planet.
