
Controversy erupts over ‘Param Sundari’ before its release; CBFC declines to censor intimate sequences.
Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film Param Sundari is going to be released in theaters on 29 August. The audience is eagerly waiting since the teaser of the film came out. Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor will be seen together for the first time in the film ‘Param Sundari’. In this film, Siddharth and Janhvi Kapoor are going to share the screen together for the first time. In the film, Siddharth is playing the role of a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a South Indian girl i.e. Janhvi Kapoor. Let us tell you that before the release, a scene from the film has created a ruckus. A religious community has also raised questions on the certificate given to this film by the CBFC. Actually, a romantic scene from the film created a controversy and now there is a demand to remove this scene from the film. This scene created trouble ‘Param Sundari’ sparks debate prior to release as intimate scenes remain uncensored by CBFC. Let us tell you that they have written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Mumbai Police, Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Maharashtra Government in this regard. Watchdog Foundation’s lawyer Godfrey Pimenta said that ‘Under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, CBFC has been entrusted with the task of giving certificates to films keeping in mind the respect of religious sentiments. Recently, the board had also removed intimate scenes from films like Sayaara and War 2. The Christian group further said that ‘the church is a holy place for Christians and obscene scenes should not be shown in it. This scene hurts the sentiments of the Catholic community. The foundation has even threatened that if these scenes are not removed from the film and promotional videos, they will protest. Along with this, they also demanded to register an FIR against the lead characters, director and producer of the film. Film passed without visual cuts It was feared that censor scissors might be used on Param Sundari’s song ‘Bheegi Sari’. But this did not happen, CBFC’s examining committee made changes in some dialogues and words. In the subtitles, bastard was replaced with idiot and words like bloody and church were muted and removed from the subtitles. Along with this, the word father was also muted. Let us tell you that after all these changes, the censor board has given U/A 13+ certificate to the film ‘Param Sundari’.
