UPI Transaction New Rules: Many rules of UPI will change from August 1; know what will be its effect on you

Big news for UPI users! For users using UPI platforms like Paytm, PhonePe, and GPay, many new rules are going to change from August 1, 2025. You should be aware of this, or else your trouble may increase. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is going to implement new rules to reduce problems like delays and failed transactions from UPI. In this, rules will be applicable for all banks and payment apps. If you use UPI, then now there is going to be a limit on some of the features being used. Let’s know what the many rules of UPI are. What changes will happen in UPI from August 1 From August 1, 2025, changes are going to be implemented in two major rules of UPI, which will affect services like balance check, autopay permission, and transaction status. From August 1, 2025, UPI users will be limited to 50 balance checks and 25 account view requests per day via the UPI app. These new limits have been introduced to increase the stability and efficiency of UPI. Apart from this, from August 1, 2025, all customers who want to set up auto payment will have to make payment in fixed time slots only. Such as electricity-water bills, OTT subscriptions, etc. Now autopay transactions will be processed only in three fixed time slots: before 10 am, between 1 pm and 5 pm, and after 9:30 pm. Apart from these, no changes have been made in the transaction limit; they will remain the same as before. Action will be taken for breaking the rules Under the new rules, it has also been said that strict steps like blocking API, imposing fines, and stopping onboarding of new customers can be taken against banks or PSPs who do not follow these instructions. In such a situation, it would be appropriate that we follow the rules mentioned. Long list of bank holidays in August According to RBI, in August 2025, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days across the country according to different states and festivals. This includes festivals like Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi, as well as Sunday and second-fourth Saturday holidays. In such a situation, in view of the holidays, it would be better to finish the necessary banking work in advance so that there is no delay in any important work.
