Srinagar : In the Chandura area of Jammu and Kashmir, two masked men opened fire late Monday night at the residence of local leader Mohammad Yousuf Mir, who is associated with the Ghulam Nabi Azad-led party. Following the incident, Mir lodged a formal complaint with the Chandura police station.
According to Mir’s statement to the police, the two masked individuals attempted to forcibly enter his home and threatened him. The attack has triggered panic in the locality, leaving residents deeply concerned about their safety.
As per media reports and the complaint, both assailants were armed with pistols and fired two rounds near Mir’s house before fleeing the scene. Mir also handed over an empty cartridge recovered from the attack site, which has been seized by police for forensic examination.
The police have launched an investigation into the case. CCTV footage reviewed so far shows the two masked attackers leaving Mir’s residence, and authorities are using the footage in efforts to identify and trace the culprits.
