In Sanatan Dharma, lighting a lamp is considered an essential part of worshiping any deity. During this, a wick of cotton is made, which is dipped in ghee. But after the ghee is finished, the wick extinguishes. In such a situation, most people pick up this wick and throw it in the garbage. But do you know that using them correctly brings positive energy and auspicious results in life. It is believed that the burnt wick has positive energy and removes negative energy. Therefore, instead of throwing the wick somewhere, if you adopt this easy remedy, then it can bring happiness, prosperity and success in life.
Let us know what should be done with the burnt wicks after the puja?
Use the burnt wick in this way
- Collect the wicks of the lamp used in the puja for 10 days and on the 11th day keep them in a clean diya
- Now put one cinnamon stick, one cardamom, two to three pieces of camphor and two whole cloves with flowers in this lamp and light it.
- Then spread the smoke coming out of it all around your house, it helps in bringing positive energy in the house
- After that keep this diya on the roof and fill its ashes in a box
- Whenever you go for any important work, apply a tilak with this ash before leaving, it helps in success of work
- To ward off the evil eye from children, rotate this ash seven times on them and put it at the root of the tree
- If the ash is in large quantity, then mixing it near the Tulsi plant is also auspicious
- If the wick and ash of the lamp are kept in a cloth and flowed in the river after a week, then it helps in getting rid of planetary defects
- Never throw burnt wicks in the dustbin, it invites negative energy and also creates an obstacle in the peace and happiness of the house
Should the remaining wick of the lamp be lit again or not?
Many individuals reuse the old wick by adding more ghee or oil to relight the lamp. Let us tell you that doing this is not considered right. Whenever you light a lamp before the deity and it is a metal one, ensure to clean it and use a fresh wick. Lighting the remaining wick again reduces positivity. Along with this, let us tell you that in Hindu scriptures, it is also mentioned about rotating the lamp during Aarti. When doing Aarti, start by circling it four times around the feet, twice near the navel, once near the face, and finally seven times from the head down to the feet. In this way, Aarti should be rotated a total of 14 times.
