Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open three metro projects in Kolkata on 22nd August. Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar shared this information on Twitter on Thursday. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar posted that this metro project is a “historic gift” for Bengal before Durga Puja. It is also being said that these also include an important section of India’s first underwater metro. At present, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line operates in two separate stretches—one between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade, and the other from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector 5. The newly added route will greatly benefit the thousands of daily commuters heading to the IT hub in Sector 5. Because the Green Line connects to the Blue Line at Esplanade and also connects Howrah and Sealdah railway stations. Now the airport will also be connected to this route, which will provide a lot of convenience to the passengers. Let us tell you that this inauguration ceremony will be held at Jessore Road Metro Station of the Yellow Line. Along with the new metro projects, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the new subway built at Howrah Metro Station.
Mamata Banerjee will stay away from the program
There is news that Mamata Banerjee will not attend PM Modi’s West Bengal program. It is being said that she will not share the stage with PM Modi. This information was given by a top official of the state government. Mamata Banerjee’s party, TMC, also said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the allegations of alleged harassment and linguistic discrimination against migrants from Bengal in BJP-ruled states. The official said that in such an environment, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not want to share the stage with the officials of the Central Government. An official even alleged that these projects were planned by Mamata Banerjee during her tenure as Railway Minister. But after slow progress for a long time, now BJP is inaugurating them to take electoral credit. Actually, assembly elections are going to be held in West Bengal, and BJP has been trying its best to gain a foothold in Bengal since the last two elections.
But despite all the efforts, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC continues to remain in power.
